Boy oh boy

As a parent of twins, I have to be fair and balanced. What I do for one baby, I try to do for the other too. Yesterday's post was all about Bree and I've felt the need to do a Luke post asap. It could also be one of my idiosyncrasies where I need to be 'even'. If Mike gives me a love tap on my right arm, he has to do it on my left arm too. Wha??? Isn't everyone like that?

So about my daring, I mean darling, boy. He's my little monkey. I'm amazed at what he can do. The other day while I was doing dishes, it was a little too quiet. Imagine my surprise when I found Luke in the exersaucer. I wondered how the heck he got in there and then the next day I found out. He did it again and this time I caught in video. I haven't put them in the exersaucers for ages, I guess he was feeling a bit nostalgic.

Here's another, the endings a little abrupt. You'll see why -

(we don't have a ball pit, rather a toy pit a/k/a pack n play used as a toy chest)

Lastly, I love father/son or father/daughter shots. Mike is such an awesome dad. Here are my boys (isn't this the epitome of California with the palm trees in the background?) -

Awwww

When did my baby girl grow up? She's gotten so girly! At the same time, she's incredibly affectionate which completely melts our hearts. So does seeing her with a doll. She hugs and pats their back. It's so cute! Funnily, I wonder where she got this from? Not me, I was never into stuffed animals or dolls when I was little. I had an ex-boyfriend who gave me bags of little stuffed animals he won from the claw machine. I'm sure they made someone very happy when I donated all of them.

Of course after seeing Bree cuddle, we went to TRU the next day and bought Bree her very first baby doll. She picked it out herself.

At home with her new 'baby'.

Kazoo

The peeps got tons of gifts for their birthday. Thank you very much!

However, there's one that both love - the KAZOO! Who would've thought?!!? Funnily enough, they knew exactly what to do with it. They're pretty darn good and talented, if I don't say so myself. I'm thinking we could start a band and possibly be the next big thing!

Sadly, we don't know who the kazoos are from. They were separated from the other gift or card. If it's you, please step forward so we can properly thank you!

p.s. Excuse the mess, we had just finished opening presents.

Dol - First Birthday (in Korean)

Last Saturday we celebrated the babes’ first birthday. I think I’ve mentioned the first birthday is a huge to-do, it's almost on par with a wedding. In fact, there are a few important occasions in a Korean's life - the first birthday, the wedding and the 60th birthday. The first and last were celebrated because people weren't expected to make it past the first year or live that long. I know, we're a morbid bunch. The birthday party was absolutely chaotic. There was tons of food, but I only managed to get 3 bites of an egg roll. Needless to say, Mike and I were starving by the end of the night. We had about 100 people, lots of kids, family and friends. We had it at a restaurant that specializes in dols, so they knew exactly what to do. They set up the balloons, cut up the fruit, displayed the rice cakes and guided us throughout the night.

One of the highlights of the party is the toljabee (picking). We lay out several different items and have the baby pick from it. Whatever he/she picks determines what’s in store for their future. These are the items we laid out -

ITEM - MEANING
Pencil - Intelligence/Scholarly
Cash - Wealth
Thread - Long life
Rice - Prosperity

Here's a video to see what our kids chose. Let me say, the apple didn't fall far from the tree - Bree is as indecisive as her mama!

Our friend took pics of the party and she's fixing them up for us (bad lighting). As soon as I get them, I'll post some. In the meantime if you'd like to see more pics, our wonderful friend, Tonya, created a beautiful montage and has it on her blog.
